IAN GARVIE graduated in 2007 with a degree in piano performance from Vassar College. While there, he studied conducting with Eduardo Navega, and for two years served as music director for a student-run contemporary music ensemble. He is currently working on his Master’s degree in orchestral conducting at Bard College, studying with Maestro Harold Farberman. This past year he has had extensive conducting opportunities with the Bard Conservatory Orchestra and Conductor’s Institute Orchestra, and has served as Assistant Conductor for the Bard Orchestra, the Chamber Singers, and the Bard Symphonic Choir.
